The famous Golden Buddha statue made of 5.5 ton pure gold is located here. Though the origin of this statue was uncertain, it was initally covered with a layer of plaster which was chipped off while relocation of statue during 1955, and the gold was revealed. This was the reason too it stayed unnoticed along with the ruins even after Burmese invasion in 1767.

Known as The Temple of Dawn, This Wat or Buddhist temple is an architectural representation of Mount Meru, the center of the world in Buddhist cosmology. In the mythology of Tibetan Buddhism, Mount Meru is a place that simultaneously represents the center of the universe and the single-pointedness of mind sought by adepts. Thousands of miles in height, Meru is located somewhere beyond the physical plane of reality, in a realm of perfection and transcendence. The four-corner prang of Wat Arun, which house images of the guardian gods of the four directions, reinforces this mystical symbolism.
Also you can notice chinese influence in the architecture and statues here.Centuries ago, Thailand was an active exporter to China. When the sailing ships returned, they used Chinese statues as ballasts for stabilization.

Night markets are an integral part of Thailand. Especially in bangkok, there are quite a lot of small and large night markets. usually these markets are open in the vening around 5 PM and stays till midnight. When we say the word market, its not a small street or few streets, its quite huge in size, and primarily these are not particularly for tourists, the Cab driver who dropped us at these market told, he usually buy his weekily grocery and food from these markets, which makes middle class people a routine of their lifestyle. Food are the highligts of these markets, basically what termed as street food. These places are quite crowded, but also noticed its very welcoming and safe to quite an extend. On top of it, the food is quite amazing, and you can eat whatever you like in small or large quantities, from shop to shops.
